OUR GOVErNORS

Governors are the heart of the self-improving school system. It takes a lot of commitment and a considerable amount of time to fulfill their many responsibilities - it is easy to forget that they are volunteers!

They have 3 core strategic functions:

a.       Ensuring clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction;

 b.       Holding the headteacher to account for the educational performance of the school and its pupils

 c.       Overseeing the financial performance of the school and making sure its money is well spent.

  • Mrs Catherine Stroud - Co-Chair of Governors; School Improvement

    I have a child who has just finished their primary schooling at Mugginton. She loved being part of Mugginton Primary School. I really enjoy reading with the infants and have accompanied the school on several of their trips, so when the opportunity to be a parent governor arose in October 2014 I applied. I sit on the 2 committees – School Improvement and Resources and am excited to be Chair of Governors at an exciting time for the school. I am looking forward to supporting the hardworking staff and governors to ensure the children of Mugginton Primary School have the best possible learning experience. My background is in environmental science, working as the operations manager for a contaminated land company. I now work as the QSE Advisor for a European based Rail Inspection company.

  • Dr Katharine Shelly - Parent, School Improvement , Resources

    I have one child who attended Mugginton and is now at secondary school and one child currently in Year 6. Both love the caring and creative nature of the school. I live locally and have enjoyed helping the school at FOMS fundraising events and on their many walks and trips. I am a working GP and aim to support the school with their health and safety and first aid responsibilities.

    I have two children in Mugginton, both in the infant class. I look forward to working with the governors to secure the very best for the children of Mugginton.

  • Miss Kythe Beresford - Staff Governor; Resources Chair

    I have worked at Mugginton since 2020 and begun work as an Early Careers Teacher at Mugginton in September 2022.

    I have a range of experience working in different types of schools and love the family atmosphere and creativity which Mugginton offers.

  • Mr Andy Hill - LA Governor

    I have recently joined the governing body of Mugginton and look forward to working for the benefit of the school community. I work in a large inner city Nottingham primary school and look forward to contributing to the team and sharing my diverse skills and experiences. As well as acting as a critical friend to the Headteacher I hope that our schools can work together to offer high quality professional development opportunities to staff.

    I have a young daughter and am a season ticket holder at Nottingham Forest - which might cause a little bit of controversy!
